Grace Notes

Grace NotesGrace Notes

Dwelling in the spirit of sacred, meditative inquiry throughout the ages, Grace Notes is framed by the iconic hymn, Amazing Grace, and Ben Johnston’s brilliant string quartet variations; T. S. Eliot’s The Four Quartets, and Beethoven’s late string quartets. Works also include poetry from Rilke, Rumi, and other ancient cultures, with harmonica improvisations.

The program began with Beethoven – began – and kept rising. With Chris Turner’s improvisation around “Amazing Grace” a familiar melody became strange and corporeal, The Quartet reinforced the exaltation, … Triple Wow! The formulations on your form are too pallid to describe this very unique humanities experience of the best sort!”   -Boston, MA
